Kenneth Macleod has provided a perfectly realised, cleverly adaptable set... ...There has not been so much fetishistic costuming and Third Reich regalia onstage in Glasgow since the Citizens’ of 35 years ago.

GRAPHIC DESIGN by KENNETH MACLEOD

In trying to immerse the audience in the seedy underworld of the 1930s Berlin cabaret scene, we used the entire New Atheneum theatre as our canvas, building out a forestage of cabaret tables and even turning the auditorium into a Nazi Party rally at the end of the first act.

The aesthetic drew on 1930s graphic styles, with a distorted, collapsing proscenium providing a framing structure for the staging, as well as hinting at the characters inability to see the collapse of their world as they know it.
