This tip-of-the-hat to classic film noir and pulp thriller transported audiences of the P&O Aurora to the gloomy East End underworld of London, 1948, a world of shadowy figures, femme fatales and deadly showdowns.
The design utilised twin revolves to transition between the dark streets and the neon bright interior of The Blue Nightingale, revealing a full jazz band. In the climax of the show, the action shifts when a dilapidated pier rises up through the fog, transporting us to the shady docks of Pelican Steps.
