GRAPHIC DESIGN BY KENNETH MACLEOD

Technically, the set design by Kenneth MacLeod is a triumph, both functionally and expressively, giving the acting team a many-tiered industrial playground of dreams and woes” - ****

This re-imagining of West Side Story saw the action shift to the ambiguous industrial fringes of Manhattan, using two monolithic trucks, each equipped with a scrap-steel climbing frame,  to create various spaces and simulate the changing alleyways and back streets.

Maria's fire-escape became a single automated platform, sliding in as Tony looks up and spots her.
